Safety, NVH and durability applications utilize L&L IP
CBS structural inserts are versatile engineered solutions that improve vehicle body structure. During the last decade, L&L has received over 100 patents for CBS designs, processes and materials.

Crash applications
Today, vehicles requiring front, side, rear and/or rollover crash solutions utilize CBS structural inserts. These CBS applications address a multitude of standards, i.e. FMVSS 206, 208, 214, 216, 301 and NCAP: US, EU, JP; and IIHS modes improving overall vehicle energy management, intrusion mitigation and deceleration profiles. We also are active with OEMs investigating CBS solutions for new and future requirements such as NPRM 216, oblique pole, compatibility and future IIHS frontal test protocols.
Durability applications
Improved durability and fatigue is achieved on body structure, door closures and components like engine cradles.
NVH applications
CBS ties together vehicle panels/members to form a stiffer composite structure that makes for a better drive and handling experience.
Design in multipurpose CBS
CBS outperforms typical standard steel solutions. Our involvement at the very early stages of the body in white design, allows designed-in CBS to achieve significant system weight and cost reductions. Our collaboration with OEMs worldwide has resulted in CBS solutions that address crash, NVH and durability/fatigue requirements simultaneously.
CAFE and CO2
Get the mass out… reduce vehicle mass, reduce CO2 emissions, improve mileage. Down-gage steel, and/or delete steel reinforcements, and add CBS for a lower weight vehicle that maintains vehicle body structure strength attributes.
