CBS Improves Torsional Stiffness and Becomes Standard Component<\/strong>
\nAn automotive manufacturer asked L&L Products for support in achieving its torsional stiffness objective (resistance to twisting) on an SUV liftgate. The customer was 10% short of its target. They requested that L&L design a structural support reinforcement to supplement a metal stamping in order to meet the goal. After re-thinking the approach with the customer, the target was achieved without the metal stamping. We then went on to help the customer optimize the rear end of the vehicle resulting in both weight and cost savings. Weight saving is a key benefit for the automotive OEMs since it contributes to fuel savings and the reduction of carbon emissions.<\/p>\n

This application has opened further dialogue and L&L\u2019s structural reinforcements are now a standard component in all of the manufacturer\u2019s vehicles with a liftgate.<\/p>\n
