Advanced Quality Engineer

Duties / Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Lead APQP system ensuring parts are developed, launched, manufactured, and can be maintained to the specified requirements.
  • Understand significant characteristics, process flow, failure modes, and method of process control.
  • Assist in the development of the process flow diagram, PFMEA, control plan, inspection and process instructions.
  • Utilize FMEA to evaluate risk and read across best practices.
  • Monitor selection and effectiveness of measurement systems for significant characteristics.
  • Coordinate Run @ Rate and capability studies on new parts/processes to verify parts are running efficiently.
  • Manage problem solving, corrective action, and continuous improvement efforts of internal and external quality issues. Work directly with PD engineers, Program Managers, and plant reps to monitor and resolve customer issues.
  • Lead/participate audit processes.
  • Participation in supplier development and improvement activities.

Education/Experience:  

  • BS in a technical field preferred. Includes but not limited to: Chemistry, Physics, Polymers, Statistics, Quality or Engineering. Equivalent experience in industry may be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years manufacturing, program management, and/or quality experience.
  • AIAG Core Tools (PPAP, MSA, DFMEA, PFMEA)
  • Basic GD&T knowledge
  • Problem Solving (Red X, Kepner Tregoe, Six Sigma, etc.)/ Corrective Action
  • Willingness to pursue additional education/ training.
  • Occasional travel to supplier, customer, or training locations.

 Skills:

  • Good written and verbal communication skills including some technical writing and reporting.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to drive/ motivate and lead project teams
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects
  • Understanding of and ability to implement measurement systems (MSA).
  • Effectively analyze and solve problems systematically.
  • Cultivate and encourage positive customer and supplier partner relationships while managing expectations and resolving issues.
  • Manage change to improve processes and systems
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Office)
  • Working knowledge of basic statistics, analytical specification testing and instrumental skills, basic chemistry and laboratory practice skills, basic polymer science and processing.
