Senior Technical CAE Engineer

Summary of primary duties and responsibilities:

  • Support concept verification and validation to assure that submitted product concepts meet or exceed the customer needs.
  • Perform all required tasks, studies and projects in a timely manner satisfying agreed upon timing requirements with the Product Engineering Manager along with internal and external customers.
  • Maintain understanding of basic principles of design related to L&L Intellectual Properties and awareness of potential uncertain properties which need to be avoided in part design as well as potential disclosures that should be filed.
  • Submit or present in report form evaluations of FEA results, product proposals, best practices, projects, training needs as required by the Product Engineering Manager or PD Director.
  • Provide technical support for new product opportunities and verifications involving customer teams, L&L PD, R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Plant Support, the customer and our suppliers.
  • Continually strive to develop the tools/methods required to improve L&L CAE capabilities.
  • Professionally represent L&L to all customers and suppliers, maintaining an honest and trust ensuring relationship with all internal and external customers.
  • Support the corporate structural strategic initiatives, including the active pursuit of alternative materials, designs and manufacturing methods for our structural components, more effectively utilizing our structural products to provide higher value to the customer.

Job Requirements:

Education/Experience:

  • Masters Degree or Equivalent
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in non-linear analysis (LS DYNA or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience with pre/post software (Hyperworks or equivalent)

Skills:

  • Ability to define both virtual and physical boundary conditions for application development and validation.
  • Knowledge of modeling composites and adhesives
  • Proficient communication skills, written and oral
  • Effective problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Understand automotive crashworthiness, NVH, fatigue, and durability basics.
