FST Bonding Solutions for aircraft interiors
Our epoxy-based, high-performance interior adhesives have been developed to bond various substrates (metal, thermoplastics, and composites) that are common to the aerospace industry.
These two-component toughened adhesives cure at room temperature and provide high-performance bonding. Designed for interior applications, they meet the latest FAA fire regulations: vertical burn, smoke density, and toxicity.
The adhesives are available in two different open time versions for immediate bonding (12 to 20 min.) and long (90 to 120 min.) for larger parts.
Key product attributes:
- High mechanical bonding
- Can be used in a wide range of temperatures
- Capable of multi-material bonding
- FST regulation compliant
FST Foaming Adhesives
Our FST foaming adhesives have been developed for a range of honeycomb core finishing operations, including core splicing, edge close out, radius enhancement and, local edge reinforcement. Different formulations are available to provide full compatibility with autoclave, oven, press processing methods, and the cure cycles used in the manufacture of aircraft interiors.
Depending on which formulation is chosen and the cure cycle used, expansion rates can range from 30% to 400%. Some of L&L’s products are Airbus-qualified.
They are available in both sheet form and as extruded beads. The tacky nature of L&L core splice adhesives means that no additional adhesive is required to pre-bond to the honeycomb.
Key product attributes:
- FST regulations-compliant
- Lightweight
- Cure smooth, reduced post-processing machining
- Thermo-foaming materials
- Multiple final densities available
- Compatible with a broad range of honeycombs as well as phenolic and epoxy prepregs
- Pressure sensitive adhesive
Honeycomb Panel Reinforcements
Our panel reinforcement for aircraft interiors is a lightweight, epoxy-based material designed to reinforce honeycomb cores in strategic areas easily and without unnecessary weight. Typical application areas include honeycomb filling, border enhancement, insert bonding, as well as local reinforcement in order to install metal hinges and inserts into the panel.
Mixing or weighing of separate components is not required. The panel reinforcement material is available as a high-viscosity paste for manual application and in a low-viscosity state for use with a mechanical pump. Once cured, it can be readily machined and sanded.
Key product attributes:
- Lightweight
- High strength
- User-friendly
- FST regulations-compliant
- Extended shelf life
- Cure smooth, reduced post processing machining
